Outline & Objective

Italy is totally surrounded by the sea and it has a long historical tradition in sailing. Sailor republics of Venezia, Genova, Pisa and Amalfi between the Xth and XIIIth century were equipped with a efficient naval fleet with which they were able to cross the Mediterranean sea to trade different goods and nowadays the recent performances of Luna Rossa and Mascalzone Latino at the America’s Cup and Louis Vitton Cup testify the Italian knowledge and skill in boats design and sailing. Italian yachts are not only unique for a continuous research of new materials and innovative technologies and for their high level of functionality and quality, but also for their design, carefully cared by Italian boats designers. These characteristics make Italian naval industry highly estimated all other the world and many Italian yachts production companies international market leaders.
This School is addressed to students and professionals interested in naval design and production, working or planning to work in the field. The aim is to form professionals skilled in design, project and construction of sail and motor boats.
To immediately apply the contents of the course some project works will be developed in groups during the course. Visits to shipyards and naval industries will allow students to enter into a real naval production and to directly watch the application of the methodologies and the technologies learned during the course.
